Score : Newgen FC 2 - 1 New Life

Newgen Scorers : Adam 1, Charlie 1

Starting lineup :

Lineup analysis : Newgen as you can see had to play Paul in goal, as Polish Peter was ill, but thankfully Dan Dark left work early, so switched with Paul at half time. Super Subs to were Dan D, Matt C and Charlie. Unavailable this week were Ben , Danny and Joe.

The Match : We were thankfully back at Waring Park, and I for one found that to be beneficial, as we just seem to play a little better here. Newgen started the 1st half quite well, as we more often than not had the majority of play, and looked more likely to score, with both Adam and Alex holding the ball up well, and laying it off with great success to Mike and Dan on the wings. Lee and Chris again showed how versatile they are by amply supporting our lively wingers and they even delivered the odd good ball aswell. Newgen kept on pressing and kept on knocking on the door, but without really testing the goalie, as alot of killer passes were put through, but often the goalie would collect or a New Life defender would sweep up. We didn't give up and our good football finally paid off, when the classy Darren found his range with a top quality pass which sent the impressive Adam T through on goal, Adam didn't let us down, as he score with a really great finish. Newgen defended fairly well throughout most of the game, but we did give New Life one clear chance in the 1st half, when 1 of our players slipped , which then saw a New Life player whip in a deep far post to a team mate who wasn't properly marked, he scored from 3 yards out. We deserved to be ahead at half time, but we weren't. 1-1 at half time. 2nd half came and went in a flash, but Newgen seemed to switch off, and New Life raised their game and started to play some really good passing Football, even though they kept the ball well, Dan in goal wasn't really troubled. The 20 minute spell or so of New Life pressure eased off as Newgen finally woke up again, and started to get back into it. Matt and Charlie came on for a tired Alex and Mike, this seemed to work fairly well as Matt has blistering pace and as always causes much danger, i think he even had a hand in Newgens winning goal, which was prodded home by Charlie after a scramble in the opposition box. Newgen had a few more half chances, and maybe at times should've passed the ball as opposed to shoot, but hey we got there and won 2-1.

Man of the match : Darren "Jonesy" Jones and Rob "Bono" Batley - Darren ran the show in midfield alongside the dominant Wilf. Darren was real classy in this game as he often delivered some really top draw passing, and wasn't afraid to battle away immensely.
Rob was also very solid at the back in this game, even though our partnership isn't blossoming at the mo. He won most in the air and covered well on many occasions.

Player to mention : Adam "GM" Tremelling - Always works hard and showcases his excellent touch and lay off play, and he won plenty in the air which was pleasing. Adams movement is also impressive and he used this to break free from the defence and latch onto Darren's pass, Adam didn't disappoint as he finished cooly.well done mate

Player Spotlight : .Adam "Wilf" Wilthew - Was often the driving force behind the team and the most passionate player in the team, which is great to see. Wilf worked himself into the ground and was deservedly on the winning team. great game buddy.

Special Mention :  Dan Dark - At roughly 11 40am i found out it was unlikely that Peter was going to play in goal, as he was not on the train with Mike, and had his phone off, so straight away the call was made to Dan Dark. Dan was at work at the time, but i explained the situation and he said he may be able to leave early. Now thats what i call commitment, Dan eventually made it to the game, which had already started, He patiently waited til half time to go in goal and relieve Paul.

Paul Marriot - The main man himself and Newgen veteran of many a season, kindly went in goal in the 1st half, as Peter was ill and Dan was running late at work. Paul was really good in goal and showcased some good handling skills, he also commanded his box really well. Its great to know that when we have goalie crisis, that someone as good as Paul can step in. Thanks to Paul and Dan, for being great parts of the team and really helping us out of a pickle.

Fans of the match : Jos "Sol" Martin - Great to have Jos back supporting Newgen, thanks mate

Afterthought : A good win for us all, and really good battling team performance. well played guys
