SOUL groups
The vision of being an authentic church lies right at the heart of what happens here at New Gen. The description of the first Christian community is a great blueprint for what this authentic church looks like.

'They committed themselves to the teaching of the apostles, the life together, the common meal, and the prayers.
Everyone around was in awe—all those wonders and signs done through the apostles! And all the believers lived in a wonderful harmony, holding everything in common. They sold whatever they owned and pooled their resources so that each person's need was met. They followed a daily discipline of worship in the Temple followed by meals at home, every meal a celebration, exuberant and joyful, as they praised God. People in general liked what they saw. Every day their number grew as God added those who were saved.'
Acts 2:42-47
This was a church that learned together, prayed together and ate together. Right from the very beginning, following Jesus was supposed to be something you did with the help of people that you could get to know well. Of course the church had big inspirational gatherings but if you wanted to grow in your faith then it wouldn’t be long before you would end up in someone’s home praying and eating together. Joining a soul group is the quickest way to make that happen here at New Gen.
Soul groups meet in the homes of church members all across the borough and are normally no more than 15 people in size. We always eat together, pray together and talk about our faith. If you want to make the most of being part of New Gen then the quicker you get into a soul group the better. It will be the place where you can ask questions, develop your gifts, get involved in mission, care for others, and find some friends you can really open up to. Without this kind of support and opportunity following Jesus is a much bigger challenge.
