Who’s Who

Paul Weston – Church Leader, Oversight Team, Vision, Hope Community School

Paul is the leader of New Generation Church. He serves on the leadership team of Pioneer network of churches and the leadership for Spring Harvest. Paul’s passion is for the local church to shine! This passion saw him launch ‘Lark in the Park’ in 1996 which is now Sidcup’s main summer event, attracting around 1,500 people every day. He is also the visionary behind Hope Community School, Bexley’s first free school which opened in September 2013. Paul has an awesome wife, Paula and they have two children. He loves a chance to hit the open road or the mountains.

Paula Weston – Oversight Team, Kids Work

Paula is a local girl and loves living near London. She’s had lots of creative jobs and loves a challenge.  She has given her time to  developing New Generation Church’s Sparkles pre school project which has grown significantly over the years and impacted many local families. She is married to Paul and they have two lovely children. She loves food, travel and going on mission trips.

Mary Rouse – Oversight Team

Mary has been part of New Gen since her late teens when she got involved in some of the youth events in the Church and met Jon – who is now her husband. She currently works as the Project Director for the New Generation Schools Trust which opened Hope Community School in 2013. Her background is in project management and she has worked in the NHS, voluntary, community and housing sectors. Mary loves adventures with friends and family to the countryside, mountains or sea but also just being at home and having people over. She is excited by community projects that bring hope and transformation. She has a terrible habit of getting friends lost on car journeys as they usually get so involved in conversation!

Jon West – Oversight Team, Technical Teams

Apart from a four year stint at Southampton University, Jon has lived in Sidcup all his life and been a part of New Generation Church since it began. He joined the PA team when he was 14 and has never looked back, having served on the techie teams ever since! Whilst at Southampton he studied Physics and met his wife Sarah. He qualified as a Patent Attorney in London, advising and helping his clients to get legal protection for their inventions. Jon wants to see New Gen’s value of excellence in all that we do and his passion is to make sure that this excellence is reflected in the events we run at New Gen.

Mel Newsum – PA to Paul Weston

Mel grew up near Portsmouth but moved to the Sidcup area to study Fashion and Textile design. She has been in New Gen since she became a Christian in 1999. Her journey with the church started when she met Joel – who is now her husband, at college – who invited her to church. Now, they are married with 2 wonderful kids! Mel is PA to Paul Weston, which makes her day very varied with lots of interaction with people and lots of fun! Mel loves eating cakes, drinking tea, reading books, getting out into the countryside, playing with the kids and hanging out with friends. She is passionate about the church and serving the vision, seeing people giving their lives to Jesus and them being transformed.

Simon Dubbey – Free60 Youth

Simon grew up in the local area, and after doing a year out with New Gen, he has become a key volunteer in many aspects of church life. He is passionate about young people and leads our youth work at New Generation Church. He is an accomplished carpenter and his practical skills also come in very handy in the life of the church too! Simon is married to Esther, and they have a lovely son!
